Kabayan, if you have spent years on a hot line in a hotel or resort kitchen, this one may suit you. An award-winning country hotel in the Southern Alps mountains near Queenstown is hiring a Chef de Partie, and its calendar is full of weddings and functions, so every week brings something different.
The hotel wants a minimum of 2 years in a similarly fast-paced kitchen and real experience cooking Kiwi / western cuisine. It is a permanent, full-time role with an immediate start, a minimum of 30 hours per week on a 4-day roster that includes weekends and nights, and a commitment until mid-April 2027 when summer ends.
Citizens and permanent residents are given preference, as are people with at least 6 months on their work visa. Sponsorship may be available to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Know the menus for each day and the ongoing ones, plus functions and specials
- When the senior chef is off, run the kitchen and service well and on time
- Operate grills, microwaves, deep-fat fryers and other equipment safely, keeping temperatures in check
- Clean your prep and service areas daily
- Check that stocks are ready, in the right quality and quantity
- Follow recipes and instructions closely so every part of a dish is properly cooked, up to standard and served on time
Requirements & Eligibility
- 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen
- Has cooked Kiwi / western cuisine
- A hospitality, cookery or culinary qualification, preferred
- Works quickly and safely and has excellent verbal communication skills
- Can do rostered hours, weekends and nights included, and stay committed until mid-April 2027
