Cookie Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Here it is, plain and simple: our own code doesn't set cookies, but the two analytics tools we use do. This page names those cookies, explains the little else that gets stored, and shows what outside services may see when you use our site.
4. So what do we store in your browser?
Apart from those analytics cookies, just one technical value, kept in sessionStorage under the name chunk_reload_at. It is a timestamp. If we update the site while you have a page open, it lets the page reload itself once so it doesn't break. It holds nothing about you, and your browser clears it when you close the tab.
5. What happens on the staff-only admin page?
Our team signs in to a private admin page with Firebase Authentication, a Google service. On that page only, Firebase keeps the staff member's sign-in session in the browser (in IndexedDB or local storage). For email-link sign-in, it also remembers the email address used, in localStorage. Regular visitors never reach this page, so none of this touches your browser.
6. What do other services and websites see?
- Google Fonts. Our fonts load from Google's servers. That means Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.
- YouTube thumbnails. Video preview images load from Google's image servers (i.ytimg.com).
- YouTube player. The player itself only loads from youtube-nocookie.com after you press play. From then on, YouTube may store data on your device under Google's policies.
- Share buttons and WhatsApp links. The WhatsApp, Facebook and LinkedIn share buttons on articles, and our WhatsApp links, send nothing until you click them. Once you do, that platform's own rules apply.
Government websites and the other websites we link to (Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid and Skills Assessment Australia) have their own cookie and privacy policies.
8. How can you control this?
You stay in charge. Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies and other stored data, either for every site or just for ours. A private or incognito window clears everything when you close it.
Blocking storage won't stop the public site from working. You can still search and apply for jobs as normal. Only the staff admin sign-in needs browser storage.
Just want Google Analytics gone? The Google Analytics opt-out add-on does that in any browser where you install it.
9. Will this policy change?
If we ever add new tools that store data in your browser, we will update this page first and change the date at the top. For the bigger picture, see our Privacy Policy.
10. Who can you ask?
