Ready to lead your own kitchen? A growing boutique hospitality venue in Queensland wants a Head Chef who is after more than an ordinary kitchen job: someone who brings together technical skill, creativity and strong leadership to help guide the next chapter of a successful food business.
You will have real input into menus, specials and food quality, while looking after the kitchen team and daily operations. Your professional experience, whether gained in the Philippines, the Middle East or elsewhere, sits at the centre of this role, and you will have the chance to build your name in a growing hospitality setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and keep up an engaging seasonal menu, along with specials and menus for events and functions
- Run the kitchen through lunch and dinner service, leading by example when things get busy
- Keep kitchen standards high in every trading period
- Guide and grow the kitchen team
- Organise daily food prep and keep quality and presentation consistent
- Handle ordering, stock rotation and inventory
- Keep food costs in check and reduce kitchen waste
- Put together practical kitchen rosters
- Uphold HACCP and workplace food safety standards
- Work hand in hand with management on the culinary direction
Requirements & Eligibility
- A strong Head Chef background, or an experienced Sous Chef ready to step into a leadership position
- Cert III/IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
- Strong experience developing menus, and a creative approach to modern Mediterranean-inspired food is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to run a busy commercial kitchen, with proven skills leading a kitchen team
- Strong knowledge of food costing and managing stock
- Excellent understanding of food safety procedures
- Available to work Wednesday to Sunday
- Comfortable working weekends and busy service periods
- Strong communication and organisational skills
