Kabayan, if you have spent years behind a curry pot or a tandoor, this could be your next step. An Indian restaurant near Dunedin in New Zealand is hiring an Indian Curry / Tandoori Chef on a permanent, full-time basis, with at least 30 hours of work each week.
It is a role for someone who enjoys a full dining room. You will guide lunch and dinner services on your own or together with the crew, share your techniques with kitchen staff and apprentices, and keep presentation and hygiene in line with New Zealand food safety standards. You will also get a say in new dishes and help look after stock.
Applicants need New Zealand residency, a valid New Zealand work visa, or eligibility for sponsorship under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme.

Key Responsibilities
- Guide busy lunch and dinner services, either on your own or with the crew
- Supervise and teach kitchen staff and apprentices cooking techniques and menu preparation
- Make sure food preparation, presentation and hygiene follow New Zealand food safety rules
- Share ideas for new dishes and support menu development, while keeping stock under control, waste low and costs efficient
- Keep communication clear with customers and co-workers and help create a positive team
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years of experience as a chef or in a higher position in a commercial kitchen
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Able to work efficiently under pressure and keep quality consistent
- Willing to work flexibly across mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Committed to staying with the employer for long-term employment
