Do you love cooking Asian-inspired dishes? A well-established restaurant in Queensland, Australia is looking for an experienced Chef to join its team in a full-time permanent position. The kitchen is fast-paced but supportive, and it is a great place for a motivated cook who cares about quality.
You will play a big part in food preparation, menu development and the day-to-day running of the kitchen, while keeping food quality and safety standards high. Key Responsibilities
- Cook high-quality meals that follow recipes and presentation standards, keeping taste, food quality and portion sizes consistent
- Help plan menus, develop recipes and update the menu each season
- Check food preparation closely so standards stay high
- Look after stock rotation, inventory and ordering, and reduce food waste through good stock and kitchen management
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and running efficiently
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations
- Work well with the kitchen team when service gets busy
- Help train junior kitchen team members
- Check kitchen equipment and report anything that needs maintenance
- Help keep improving kitchen operations and customer satisfaction, delivering excellent food and service at all times
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
- Minimum 2 years working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Strong knowledge of how a commercial kitchen operates
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Understanding of HACCP principles
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Able to work efficiently when the pace is fast
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic
- Willing to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Experience cooking Asian cuisine is highly regarded but not essential
- Committed to keeping food quality and presentation at a high standard
