Looking for a stable, long-term career in the kitchen? This permanent, full-time Chef Manager opportunity is in an aged-care catering setting in Rooty Hill, NSW, where you will use your cooking skills to make quality meals for the residents.
The roster runs Sunday to Thursday, and you will be part of a supportive workplace. Experience with South American cuisine is especially welcome. Whether you have cooked in commercial kitchens back home in the Philippines, in the Middle East or somewhere else, this is a chance to keep growing your craft in a caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare healthy, nourishing meals for residents
- Keep the quality and presentation of every plate consistent
- Adjust meals to each resident's dietary and texture needs, following IDDSI requirements for modified meals
- Keep food safety and hygiene standards high
- Stay efficient when the kitchen gets busy
- Work hand in hand with the kitchen and care teams
- Help with preparing and planning menus
- Keep an eye on stock, support ordering, control food costs and cut down unnecessary waste
- Bring variety to the menu with culturally appropriate meal options
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience as a commercial Chef
- Cooking qualifications relevant to the role
- A real interest in preparing quality food
- Experience cooking South American cuisine is preferred
- Knowing Brazilian, Peruvian, Colombian, Argentinian or Chilean cooking is advantageous
- Background in high-volume food production
- Understanding of dietary requirements, together with strong food safety and hygiene habits
- A good communicator who works well in a team
- Aged-care experience is desirable
- IDDSI experience is also desirable
- Australian working rights or eligibility for sponsorship, with sponsorship available for the successful applicant
