If caring for older people comes naturally to you, this Christchurch opening deserves a close look. A dementia care home in New Zealand is looking for a permanent, full-time Caregiver to join its close-knit team, where mentoring and support are part of everyday work.
Good news for applicants from overseas: the home is an Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer, able to sponsor the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). Visa support needs a Registered Nursing degree, or a caregiving qualification at Level 3 or above with an International Qualification Assessment (IQA).
Your days would centre on residents living with dementia: helping with bathing, dressing, meals, moving and communicating, following their therapy plans, keeping notes tidy and backing up the registered nurses. Expect at least 30 hours a week. Hourly rates are $23.95 for Level 1, $24.06 for Level 2, $26.16 for Level 3 and $28.25 for Level 4 or higher.

Key Responsibilities
- Give caring, culturally safe help with bathing, dressing, eating, moving and communicating, looking after the whole person
- Share ideas for care plans and follow the therapy plans that help residents with dementia
- Keep an eye on each resident, update the team on their progress and report changes or care concerns early
- Keep resident records correct, suitable and up to date, and support registered nurses within their scope of practice

- Caregiving experience before this role is preferred, and experience in dementia care would be a strong advantage
