Key Responsibilities
- Welcome every guest warmly and keep their experience professional from start to finish
- Look after your assigned tables and section without letting service quality slip
- Take orders accurately and pass the details clearly to the right team
- Bring out food and drinks quickly and professionally, and help run food and beverages at peak times
- Carry and serve several plates at once, safely
- Set tables before service, then clear and reset them between sittings
- Use the POS system carefully for orders and payments
- Help guests choose from the menu and drinks list, using what you know about food, wine and beverages to make their visit better
- Work smoothly with the kitchen, bar and front-of-house staff
- Keep the dining area clean, organised and looking good
- Deal with guest requests professionally and pass issues up when needed
- Follow responsible service, workplace safety and hygiene procedures, and be a positive part of a cooperative, high-performing team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated experience in restaurant waitstaff work or food and beverage service
- A relevant hospitality qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Proven ability to work well in a busy, high-volume restaurant
- A strong customer service mindset
- Excellent verbal communication and people skills, with fluent English communication
- Able to confidently handle multiple tables and sittings
- Able to safely carry three plates
- Current RSA Certificate
- Previous experience using computerised POS systems
- Wine and beverage knowledge will be highly regarded
- Professional grooming and presentation, and a reliable, honest and well-spoken manner
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay composed under pressure
- Flexible availability on weekdays, evenings and weekends, plus willingness to contribute to a professional team
