Be part of an opening team! A brand-new gastropub in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty is hiring three experienced Bartenders with proven practical skills and a strong customer-focused approach.
This role suits professionals with real bar experience who understand beverage service and can pitch in confidently when things move fast. Your experience, hands-on knowledge and ability to serve consistently will matter a lot here.
Bar staff from the Philippines and elsewhere who meet the requirements are welcome to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Make and present all kinds of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic
- Mix cocktails following the venue's recipes and standards
- Serve beer, wine and spirits, sharing the right product knowledge
- Give customers a warm, professional welcome, speak with them confidently and respond to what they need
- Process transactions accurately on POS systems
- Keep an eye on drink supplies, keep stock organised and help with ordering, stock rotation and inventory control
- Keep the bar and service areas spotless
- Follow responsible alcohol service procedures and the relevant New Zealand regulations
- Do opening and closing duties as required, and help with cash handling and end-of-shift procedures
- Work well with your teammates when service gets busy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant bartending experience at a professional level
- Hands-on, proven skills in cocktail making and beverage service, with working knowledge of beer, wine and spirits
- Able to provide evidence of your relevant work experience where required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Confident in a busy hospitality setting, with a reliable and professional attitude
- Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Applicants must meet the applicable New Zealand immigration requirements
- Sponsorship is available for eligible overseas applicants, subject to job check approval and immigration requirements
- If you are already in New Zealand, you may be considered for a Job Change or Variation of Conditions where applicable
- Where an English test is required, applicants must meet current Immigration New Zealand requirements or have an accepted exemption
