The ideal person has verified retail leadership experience, a practical way of managing people and operations, and a real love of the outdoor lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead from the front on the shop floor and take ownership of the store's daily performance and retail operations
  • Coach team members, give regular feedback and teach them about the products, including technical outdoor gear and equipment
  • Build a positive team culture based on accountability, teamwork and great customer service
  • Push sales forward and work towards the agreed store KPIs, using commercial insight to respond to sales opportunities and changing customer needs
  • Look after stock control, store admin, merchandising and day-to-day processes
  • Find ways to make the store run more efficiently and keep customers happier
  • Support structured staff development through internal training programs
  • Keep standards high for customer service, store presentation and operational compliance
  • Work closely with the Assistant Manager and regional leadership

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven retail leadership as a Store Manager, Assistant Manager or in a similar senior role, with a record of managing, coaching and developing retail staff
  • A strong grasp of sales targets, KPIs and commercial retail performance
  • A confident, hands-on leadership style and the ability to motivate a small team while keeping performance standards clear
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Sound administration, organisation and operations management skills
  • Strong communication and decision-making
  • Genuine enthusiasm for outdoor recreation, adventure, technical clothing or specialist outdoor equipment
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced, customer-facing retail environment
  • International applicants are required to have relevant and verifiable professional experience
  • Available to work the required Tuesday–Saturday roster
  • Applicants seeking Accredited Employer sponsorship must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment and immigration requirements; eligible overseas applicants may receive employer-supported visa sponsorship and relocation assistance
