Ready to move up in the kitchen? A long-established Italian restaurant in Victoria is looking for an experienced Sous Chef, or a talented Chef de Partie who feels ready to take on a leadership role.
Fresh pasta is at the centre of this kitchen, so solid pasta experience will be highly valued. You will work side by side with the Head Chef, grow your leadership skills and have a real say in daily operations, team development, specials and where the menu goes next.
The kitchen is stable and well established. Accommodation is provided, relocation assistance is offered to the right candidate and visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants. If you have built your kitchen skills in the Middle East, back home in the Philippines or anywhere else, this could be your next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the fresh pasta dishes, from preparation right through to service
- Help the Head Chef lead and coordinate the kitchen each day, and step in as team leader whenever the Head Chef is away
- Plan the day's prep and keep it on track
- Hand out tasks to the kitchen team clearly and effectively
- Keep an eye on workflow and service when the kitchen is at its busiest
- Make sure every plate is prepared and presented to the same high standard
- Share your own creative ideas for specials and new menu items
- Move between kitchen sections whenever you are needed
- Help bring in, train and grow the junior staff
- Look after stock and ingredients wisely and keep the kitchen clean, safe and tidy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Strong, confident skills in making fresh pasta
- 2–3 years of experience as a Sous Chef, or a senior Chef de Partie who can show they are ready for the next step up
- Previous experience supervising or supporting junior chefs, together with strong leadership and communication skills
- Able to manage a fast-paced kitchen while staying organised and delegating well
- A very reliable and professional way of working
- A strong focus on quality and consistent food
