Production Team Member/Supervisor

Are you experienced in food manufacturing and proud of your reliability and eye for detail? A growing food manufacturing operation in New Zealand is looking for a Food Production Supervisor / Operator who can take ownership of the production floor and keep things running smoothly.
This is a practical, hands-on job. Working with a small team, you will be involved in every stage, from ingredient preparation and batching to running machinery, quality checks, cleaning and production coordination. You should be happy to switch between supervising and hands-on production work as needed, and confident taking responsibility for production targets, food safety, quality and team support.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan the day's production schedule and give each team member their tasks, making sure work is done safely, efficiently and on schedule
- Prepare batches and make products following approved recipes, weighing, measuring and checking every ingredient carefully first
- Run mixers, fillers and other food manufacturing equipment, and keep watch on machinery and processes so everything runs smoothly
- Keep product quality consistent from start to finish
- Do quality checks and raise production issues quickly
- Make sure food safety and Good Manufacturing Practice requirements are always followed
- Keep production processes and recipe controls accurate
- Clean and sanitise the area and wash down equipment each day, keeping production spaces tidy, organised and up to workplace standards
- Track daily production targets and help the team work more efficiently
- Train and support your fellow production team members
- Work closely with the Production Manager to sort out operational issues
- Make sure orders and production requirements are completed correctly and on time
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, report hazards or issues, and give hands-on help wherever production needs it
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience in food manufacturing or commercial food production
- Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Production Operator or in a similar role
- Experience working in an environment with an approved food control plan, plus strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and quality requirements
- Hands-on experience operating food manufacturing machinery such as mixers, fillers or similar production equipment
- Able to follow recipes, measurements and manufacturing procedures accurately
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to product consistency
- Able to lead and support a small production team
- Comfortable in a hands-on production environment and able to work efficiently to meet daily production targets
- Reliable and hardworking, physically capable of production and cleaning duties, and willing to take on repetitive tasks and washdown responsibilities
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Quick to learn new machinery and production systems
- Committed to keeping the workplace clean and safe
- Holding a current forklift licence is advantageous
- Sponsorship is available for a suitably qualified overseas candidate
