Maintenance Fitter

Are you a fitter who knows thermoforming and packaging machines inside and out? A well-established food manufacturer in Western Australia is looking for a Maintenance Fitter with proven specialist skills on this kind of complex equipment.
General maintenance experience on its own is not what they are after. The client wants a tradesperson who can show real, hands-on ability to maintain, troubleshoot and fine-tune high-speed manufacturing machinery, backed by verified technical expertise and practical thermoforming knowledge. On this production floor, reliability, precision and quick fault-finding are essential.
Have you worked on MULTIVAC thermoforming equipment, especially R-Series machinery? That will be highly regarded. Skills built in factories in the Philippines, the Middle East or elsewhere can count here.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on thermoforming and packaging machines, following safety and operational procedures
- Find and fix mechanical faults on high-speed production equipment, and respond quickly when breakdowns or production maintenance needs come up
- Troubleshoot heating, forming, sealing and other thermoforming systems
- Look after vacuum and compressed air systems as well as film feed and tension control systems
- Work on servo-driven machines and automated production equipment
- Support MAP and vacuum packaging operations
- Do tooling changes and fine-tune how each machine performs
- Handle production line changeovers and equipment adjustments
- Look into recurring equipment faults and carry out root cause analysis
- Find ways to make machinery more reliable and cut downtime
- Work hand in hand with production and engineering teams to keep output consistent, and help with machinery installation and commissioning
- Play your part in continuous improvement and preventative maintenance programs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade-qualified as a Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Tradesperson
- Demonstrated work history in food manufacturing, packaging, processing or a similar production setting
- Proven hands-on experience with thermoforming machinery, with a strong understanding of thermoforming equipment and processes
- MULTIVAC experience is highly desirable, and experience on MULTIVAC R-Series machines is advantageous
- Know-how in forming stations, heating plates and sealing systems, plus cutting and punching equipment
- Experience with vacuum and compressed air systems, and with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience working on servo-driven machinery
- A good grasp of film feed and tension control systems
- Experience with MAP or vacuum packaging technology is highly regarded
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to pin down the cause of complex equipment failures
- Able to work on your own and under production pressure
- Strong safety awareness and solid preventative maintenance habits
- Good communication skills and a real team player
- Flexible to work rotating early and afternoon shifts
