Maintenance & Reliability Lead
Trade · Perth WA, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview
Are you a hands-on maintenance tradesperson ready for more responsibility? An expanding manufacturing plant in Western Australia is looking for an experienced maintenance and reliability leader to make its equipment more dependable and to set up a more organised, proactive way of doing maintenance.
The maintenance system is not fully in place yet, so you will help build it. Your days will mix hands-on troubleshooting with planning, automation, asset management, coordinating contractors and continuous improvement. You will work closely with production teams, equipment makers and technical specialists to keep the plant available, cut repeat breakdowns and set up practices that support long-term growth.
Industrial maintenance experience from the Middle East, the Philippines or elsewhere is a good foundation for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the lead on the maintenance and reliability strategy for the whole manufacturing site, and own equipment availability, plant reliability and maintenance performance
- Set up and run structured preventative and predictive maintenance programmes
- Respond to breakdowns and technical faults, and work out what went wrong
- Do hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance within your qualifications and authorised scope
- Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, variable-speed drives, sensors, instrumentation, motors and automated control systems
- Find faults in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation systems
- Watch for repeat equipment failures, run root-cause investigations and put lasting corrective actions in place
- Plan maintenance schedules that fit production needs and how critical each piece of equipment is
- Build and keep accurate asset registers, maintenance records, work orders and equipment histories
- Set up and improve CMMS processes, including MEX and other relevant equipment maintenance systems
- Create inspection routines, service intervals, maintenance standards, practical procedures, checklists and technical records
- Improve how critical spare parts are identified, kept in stock and managed
- Coordinate specialist contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and technical service providers
- Help with installing, commissioning, upgrading, modifying and handing over equipment
- Work with production operators on better equipment care and catching faults early, and support gains in plant safety, response times, uptime and efficiency
- Make sure isolation, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and safety procedures are followed, and that licensed and specialist work is done by properly qualified people
