Leading Hand Cabinetmaker

If you have built your career at the cabinetmaking bench and feel ready to lead, this could be your next step. An established cabinetry and joinery business in Queensland is looking for two experienced, trade-qualified Cabinetmakers to move into a Leading Hand position.
You will stay hands-on at the bench while looking after a small production team and keeping the workshop running smoothly. Your cabinetmaking background, technical skill and leadership experience will need to be clearly shown and verified, so experience gained in the Middle East, back home in the Philippines or anywhere else overseas is worth putting forward.
It is a real chance to turn proven trade experience into a long-term leadership role in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and put together cabinets and joinery pieces in the workshop
- Make sense of drawings, plans and specs so every piece is built correctly
- Run the workshop's machines and equipment
- Guide and back up the cabinetmakers and apprentices on your team, sharing your technical know-how along the way
- Keep the daily flow of work and production in the workshop well coordinated
- Double-check measurements, the quality of workmanship and each finished piece
- Keep an eye on both quality and productivity on the production floor
- Help sort out production problems and troubleshoot when issues come up
- Lend a hand on installation jobs when needed
- Keep the workshop tidy and safe, and help the team hit its deadlines and quality targets
Requirements & Eligibility
- A trade-qualified Cabinetmaker holding a Certificate III or an equivalent qualification
- Solid professional background in cabinetmaking and joinery, with hands-on technical skill you can demonstrate
- Past experience as a Leading Hand or in a supervisory role is preferred
- Able to guide and support a small team
- A good grasp of how workshop production runs
- Comfortable reading plans and technical drawings
- Good at communicating and staying organised
- A careful eye for detail and quality standards, with a reliable and safety-conscious attitude
- Your experience must be backed by suitable qualifications and employment history
- Eligible candidates from overseas may be considered for visa sponsorship
