If you have led a hotel or hostel team, here is a big next step: a General Manager post at a large new property in Auckland, New Zealand. The company runs hostels, hybrid hotel-hostel stays and food and beverage venues in both Australia and New Zealand.
You would be the person everyone looks to. Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance each have a head who reports to you, and the guest experience, team spirit, finances and compliance rest on your shoulders.
This is a pre-opening job, kabayan. The aim is to start in January 2027, with the doors opening in March, so you help build the place from day one. The employer is accredited, open to candidates in New Zealand or overseas, and can give sponsorship support for the right person. Remember to include a cover letter.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the property and its four department heads: Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance
- Look after the guest experience and team culture
- Own financial performance, standards and compliance
- Help the wider team build the operation and the leadership group before opening
- Give the new property its culture and see it from plans to opening
- After opening, keep every part connected, support your leaders and keep teams aligned
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience running a busy hotel or hostel operation
- An understanding of lodging, yield management and what drives commercial performance, and comfort with budgets, labour, revenue and cost control
- Some food and beverage exposure, ideally across bars, restaurants or busy social venues
- Knowledge of the Auckland hospitality and lodging scene is helpful but not essential
- A cover letter is required to be considered for interview
