Do you enjoy working outdoors and take pride in a neat, well-kept garden? A hands-on Gardener role is open in Christchurch, Canterbury, for someone with real experience keeping outdoor spaces looking professional.
It is not just about ticking off garden jobs. You will need to show practical know-how, handle equipment responsibly, keep your work quality steady and look after grounds that are attractive, safe and tidy.
If you have clear gardening experience, whether gained in the Philippines or abroad, and a dependable attitude, you are encouraged to apply. Sponsorship is on offer for eligible applicants who meet the relevant requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Mow, trim, prune and take care of general grounds upkeep on a regular basis, keeping lawns, gardens, pathways and shared outdoor areas in good shape
- Plant and fertilise when needed
- Use ride-on mowers, line trimmers and other garden machines, always following safe work practices with tools and equipment
- Walk around the outdoor areas to spot routine maintenance needs
- Keep lawns and gardens up to the expected presentation standard
- Look after your equipment and keep work areas neat and organised
- Work together with internal teams and outside contractors when needed
- Finish the gardening and grounds tasks given to you reliably
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven hands-on experience in gardening or grounds maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to handle routine gardening tasks on your own
- Experience using ride-on lawn mowers and line trimmers, and able to use gardening tools and machinery safely
- Sound understanding of basic care for gardens, lawns and plants
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistent quality in your work
- A reliable, responsible and professional attitude to work, with good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work well on your own and with a team
- Available for casual weekday shifts
- Willing to complete police vetting and other required employment checks
- Must meet applicable New Zealand employment and sponsorship requirements
