Electrical Estimator & Industrial Electrician

Are you an electrical professional ready for your next big career move? A well-established electrical engineering and contracting company is growing its team in Victoria and would love to hear from experienced Electrical Estimators and Industrial Electricians.
You would be contributing to technically varied work in commercial, industrial and infrastructure settings, side by side with engineers, project managers and fellow tradespeople. Whether you sharpened your skills in the Middle East, back home in the Philippines or somewhere else, it is your hands-on experience that counts here.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimator: read through project drawings, specifications, scopes and other technical documents before pricing a job
- Estimator: put together detailed estimates and tender prices for electrical projects, and prepare tender submissions that are accurate and commercially competitive
- Estimator: break down the cost of materials, labour and subcontractors, then gather and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Estimator: spot possible project risks, exclusions and chances to save on cost
- Estimator: help out with project budgets, cost planning and value engineering
- Estimator: liaise with engineers, project managers, suppliers and clients from the start to the end of each estimate
- Estimator: support the delivery team when a project is handed over
- Estimator: keep pricing, estimate and tender records accurate and up to date
- Electrician: carry out industrial electrical installations in the workshop and on site, including installing, assembling and wiring switchboards and control panels
- Electrician: test installations and equipment before commissioning, then take care of commissioning and start-up work where needed
- Electrician: find the cause of electrical faults and complete the repairs, as well as scheduled preventative maintenance
- Electrician: read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
- Electrician: install and work on industrial control and electrical systems, and lend a hand with PLC, MCC and automation-related tasks where applicable
- Electrician: make sure finished work meets Australian Standards and the project specifications
- Electrician: follow every workplace health, safety and environmental requirement
- Electrician: work hand in hand with engineers, supervisors and other trades so projects finish efficiently
Requirements & Eligibility
- Estimator: proven background in electrical estimating or electrical project work
- Estimator: solid knowledge of electrical systems, installations and industry practice, plus the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Estimator: experience preparing project estimates and tender submissions, with an understanding of material, labour and subcontractor costing
- Estimator: having electrical trade experience or a trade qualification is advantageous
- Estimator: hands-on use of estimating and project management software is highly regarded
- Estimator: a sharp eye for detail, good numerical ability, commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
- Estimator: able to communicate well with clients, suppliers and project teams
- Electrician: a recognised electrical trade qualification
- Electrician: current Australian Electrical Licence, or eligibility to obtain the appropriate Australian licence
- Electrician: demonstrated industrial electrical experience, including hands-on work with switchboards, control panels and electrical installations
- Electrician: strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, and confidence reading electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Electrician: current driver's licence
- Electrician: background with PLCs, MCCs, automation or industrial control systems is advantageous
- Electrician: commissioning experience is highly regarded
- Electrician: comfortable working on your own or in a team, with a strong commitment to quality, safety and professional standards
