Electical Field Service Technician

Do you enjoy figuring out why a machine has stopped working? An Australian technical service business is looking for a capable Electrician / Electrical Field Service Technician to support customers who use commercial catering and foodservice equipment.
This is more than routine installations. You will look into electrical problems, work out the cause of equipment failures and fix things properly at the customer's site. Expect a mix of field service, diagnostics, repairs, testing, commissioning and technical support across many types of commercial equipment.
Along the way you will gain specialised Australian industry experience with a professional service team. Electricians from the Philippines, the Middle East and elsewhere with a solid trade background may find this a good fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer premises for breakdown repairs and scheduled servicing
- Service and repair the electrical side of commercial catering and foodservice equipment
- Find out why equipment has failed, pinpoint electrical faults and troubleshoot step by step
- Check components and circuits with electrical testing instruments
- Fix or swap out faulty electrical components
- Do electrical wiring and equipment modifications when you hold the right licence
- Test equipment after each repair to confirm it runs safely
- Install new commercial equipment and commission it
- Give technical help to customers and fellow service staff, including troubleshooting enquiries by phone and email
- Help with warranty assessments and service-related investigations
- See each service job through from first diagnosis to completion
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to sort out technical issues, and source and organise the parts and spares needed for repairs
- Help with equipment assembly and electrical preparation, and pitch in with workshop and warehouse tasks when required
- Keep clear records of service work done, repairs made and parts used
- Represent the service team professionally with customers, and follow electrical safety requirements and set workplace procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised electrical trade qualification
- Relevant electrical licence, or eligibility to obtain the required licensing
- Proven, hands-on skill in electrical fault finding and diagnostics
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, controls and components
- Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing electrical equipment, whether commercial, industrial, appliance or electro-mechanical
- Experience with commercial kitchen or foodservice equipment is advantageous
- Previous field service or mobile technician experience is highly regarded
- Confident working alone to diagnose and fix technical faults
- Strong analytical thinking and practical problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and good customer service
- Able to work well with technicians, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
- Good organisation and job-management skills, with a reliable approach and strong attention to safety and quality
- Gas-related experience or licensing is advantageous
- Forklift experience or licence is advantageous
- Current Australian driver's licence or equivalent
- Able to provide genuine supporting evidence of your qualifications and relevant work experience
