The venue is a popular rooftop bar in the centre of Christchurch, now in its sixth year. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, gives every table full service and focuses on sharing plates and fresh food that changes with the season. Mondays are for staff training, functions, cocktail competitions and sprucing up the venue.
The owners want a small, hard-working team and offer steady training and growth to people who commit to hospitality. The job is permanent and full-time, with at least 30 hours in the contract, rotating closing shifts and evening and weekend work. Friday and Saturday evenings are a must. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate, and you could start straight away.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly as they come in
- Look after all reservations and customer enquiries
- Serve customers by taking orders, upselling and processing payments
- Lead your team by example on the floor
- Make sure every guest leaves happy
- Be the contact person for functions
- Keep front of house costs and overheads in line with KPIs and targets
- Manage the front of house roster to meet KPIs and targets
- Run training for front of house staff
- Keep a positive workplace and a good staff culture
- Order stock and do the monthly stocktake
- Follow standard procedures when opening and closing
- Keep the venue safe and healthy, following all legal obligations
- Join in creating new menus, including drinks, recipes, costings and marketing
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of three years of bar experience
- Experience making cocktails at high volume
- A warm, welcoming personality and a positive attitude
- Drive to succeed
- Ambition to grow and develop, with passion for the industry
- A valid LCQ
- A current Duty Managers Certificate
- Able to work evenings and weekends; Friday and Saturday evenings are non negotiable
