An established road transport business is hiring a Diesel Motor Mechanic for its heavy commercial fleet in regional New South Wales. The job is permanent and full-time, at the Dubbo workshop or at a second workshop in the Riverina with a roster that rotates to Dubbo.
Every day you would keep prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment running through careful fault-finding, repairs and planned maintenance, so downtime stays low and the fleet meets NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS standards.
Visa sponsorship through subclass 482 is open to suitably qualified applicants. Preference goes to those who currently have a valid visa in Australia, but it is simply a preference, not a requirement. A licence, a medical and a drug and alcohol test are part of the hiring criteria.

Key Responsibilities
- Keep engines, transmissions and brakes in top shape through planned preventive maintenance and logbook services set by OEM guidelines
- Hunt down electrical, mechanical and emission control problems with advanced diagnostic equipment and fix them properly
- Overhaul big components and handle any fabrication the workshop calls for
- Look after NHVR compliance and keep careful paperwork ready for audits
- Work safely, update work orders in the fleet system, respond to roadside callouts and coach drivers on checking their vehicles and reporting defects
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years of heavy diesel mechanic experience, preferably in the road transport industry
- A qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Desirable: hands-on experience with NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment
- Good with diagnostic software, and you know both petrol and diesel engines
- A current licence
- Able to pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
