Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker

Do you know crushing and processing gear inside out? A specialist equipment services business is hiring an experienced Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker with solid hands-on skills in mechanical, hydraulic and equipment maintenance, based out of Rutherford in the Hunter.
This job is for someone whose trade background can be clearly backed by qualifications and work history. You will look after a range of crushing, processing, quarry and mining machines, from maintenance and fault-finding to repairs and field servicing.
Every week brings variety: some work happens in the workshop, and some at customer sites in metropolitan, regional and remote areas. It could suit fitters and boilermakers who have worked on quarry or mine sites in the Philippines or abroad.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and look after mobile and fixed crushing and processing equipment
- Find equipment faults and work out what repairs are needed
- Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance
- Track down hydraulic faults using schematics, manuals and technical information, and run hydraulic pressure and flow tests
- Troubleshoot 12V and 24V electrical control systems, reading electrical schematics and doing voltage and continuity tests
- Inspect machines and get them ready for pre-delivery
- Follow OEM specifications and approved maintenance procedures
- Go out to customer sites to service equipment and give technical help
- Support customers in metropolitan, regional and remote locations, travelling to regional sites when needed
- Write down the condition of equipment and point out recommended remedial work
- Put together technical service and condition reports
- Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, settings and testing, including photos of finished maintenance and repair work
- Talk directly with customers about equipment issues and the work you have completed
- Work safely in both the workshop and the field
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking or a comparable mechanical trade
- At least 2 years of industry experience after completing your training
- Proven experience with quarry or mining fixed plant, and relevant hands-on work on crushing and processing equipment
- Demonstrable experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs
- Practical knowledge of hydraulic systems and how to diagnose faults
- Able to read and interpret both hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Able to do basic electrical testing on 12V and 24V systems
- Able to show and verify your previous trade jobs and experience
- Full unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
- HR Licence is desirable
- Forklift Licence is desirable
- Physically capable of manual and field-based work
- Willing to work across metropolitan, regional and remote locations
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screening
- Strong mechanical problem-solving skills
- A self-motivated, proactive attitude
- Good communication and customer service skills, and able to work professionally with customers and site teams
