Enjoy fixing big machines and figuring out what went wrong? A professional equipment service team in Adelaide, Australia is looking for an experienced Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker.
You will be the person who keeps critical heavy processing equipment running reliably. The work is varied: some days in the workshop, others at customer sites or out in regional areas, across crushing, screening and other mobile and fixed plant. Expect plenty of preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs and customer support. Fitters and boilermakers who have worked on plant in mines and quarries in the Philippines or the Middle East will feel right at home.
The pay is competitive, up to $55 per hour plus allowances, and comes with company resources, ongoing training and long-term employment benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain all kinds of heavy mobile and stationary processing equipment
- Do preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs, and get machines ready before delivery
- Look into breakdowns and find the real cause of mechanical faults
- Find and fix hydraulic problems using pressure and flow testing, checking hydraulic components and repairing or replacing them as needed
- Work from hydraulic schematics, service manuals and OEM technical documents
- Troubleshoot 12V and 24V electrical control systems, reading electrical schematics and doing voltage and continuity tests
- Visit customer sites to give technical service and help with breakdowns
- Work at metropolitan, regional and remote sites when needed
- Check the condition of machines and recommend corrective or preventative work
- Write detailed service and technical reports after each job, and keep good records of inspections, repairs, testing, equipment settings and photos
- Do every job according to OEM specifications, workplace procedures and safety standards
- Talk directly with customers, offer practical solutions and help them cut equipment downtime so their plant keeps running reliably
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant recognised trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of post-trade experience in a relevant mechanical environment
- Experience with quarry, mining or fixed-plant equipment
- Experience with crushing, screening or mineral processing equipment is highly regarded
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, repair, problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Good hands-on knowledge of hydraulic systems and the ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Experience with heavy industrial or mobile equipment
- Basic electrical diagnostic skills for 12V and 24V systems
- A full unrestricted Australian C Class Driver Licence, or the ability to obtain one
- HR and forklift licences are advantageous
- Happy to work across workshop, customer and site environments and to travel to regional and remote locations
- Physically able to do hands-on mechanical work, with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Able to meet pre-employment medical requirements and pass drug and alcohol screening
- Self-motivated and dependable, able to work both on your own and with others
- Professional communication and good customer service skills
