Looking for a kitchen role with most of your evenings free? A hospitality business in Western Australia needs a Cook with proven commercial kitchen experience, practical skills and a dependable work ethic.
You will handle a bit of everything in the kitchen, from prepping ingredients and cooking to plating, managing stock and keeping the workspace clean and efficient. You will be part of an experienced culinary team that values consistency, teamwork and attention to detail.
Service is mainly lunch, so most evenings are free. You will need to be available on weekends and public holidays, and occasional functions may call for extra availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Prep ingredients and food items for the day's kitchen operations
- Cook menu items on the right commercial kitchen equipment, coordinating prep and cooking so service runs efficiently
- Keep food quality and presentation consistent
- Help plate and present finished dishes
- Lend a hand with group meal preparation when required
- Work hand in hand with the Head Chef and the rest of the kitchen staff
- Keep an eye on kitchen stock and help with inventory control
- Receive, label, store and rotate food products the correct way
- Use practical steps to cut down food waste
- Keep the kitchen orderly, hygienic and well presented, following food safety and workplace hygiene requirements
- Carry out the required opening and closing procedures
- Back up the team during busy, high-pressure service
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial cooking experience
- Hands-on knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation
- Genuine work experience that you can demonstrate and that can be verified
- At ease in a fast-paced commercial kitchen and able to keep up quality and efficiency under pressure
- Strong organisational skills and a good eye for detail
- Reliable and consistent in handling your work responsibilities
- Works well as part of a team
- A positive, professional attitude
- Willing to work weekends and public holidays
- Available for occasional functions when required
- Able to satisfy relevant sponsorship requirements where applicable
