Be part of something new! A hospitality business in Queensland is getting ready to launch a new restaurant and needs an experienced Chef with hands-on skills, reliability and kitchen leadership to help make it happen.
They are looking for a proven cook who has strong commercial kitchen experience, keeps food preparation consistent and works well with a team. If you have real hands-on experience and can take responsibility in a busy kitchen, you are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will receive a full-time position paying $70,000–$80,000 per annum plus superannuation. Kitchen experience from the Middle East or back home in the Philippines can be a great foundation for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare menu items following the set recipes and standards, keeping flavour, presentation and portion sizes consistent
- Keep food preparation and service running smoothly and efficiently
- Organise the kitchen during busy trading periods
- Share ideas for menu development and better recipes
- Guide and train junior kitchen staff
- Make sure kitchen practices meet food safety requirements, and keep the kitchen clean and safe to work in
- Watch stock usage, spot what needs ordering and help rotate stock to cut down waste
- Help keep kitchen costs under control and operations efficient
- Communicate well with the rest of the kitchen and service team
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant cookery qualification is preferred
- At least 3 years of professional Chef experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Strong understanding of food preparation and cooking procedures
- Knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Able to manage competing priorities in the kitchen and keep quality up during high-volume service
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a reliable and committed approach to work
- Experience with Mexican cuisine is advantageous
- Able to undertake interstate training when required
- Sponsorship consideration is available for suitably qualified applicants
