Butchery Assistant Manager

Have you been working as a butcher for a while and feel ready for more responsibility? This role is for an experienced Butcher whose hands-on background can be verified and who wants to step up from routine production into a more senior position.
Based in New Zealand, you will work side by side with the Butchery Manager to keep the department running smoothly, looking after quality, supporting the team, serving customers and making sure daily operations meet the expected standards.
It is a full-time permanent role where your experience is recognised and your leadership skills can keep growing.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Butchery Manager to solve operational problems and keep productivity up, helping the department run efficiently every day
- Cut, prepare, break down and pack meat using established butchery techniques, with accurate and consistent presentation and quality
- Give colleagues day-to-day guidance and hands-on training
- Help supervise staff and organise daily workloads
- Help look after stock rotation, ordering and wastage control
- Stick to strict food safety, hygiene and workplace safety practices
- Build good relationships with customers through professional service
- Keep the department clean and organised
Requirements & Eligibility
- Solid professional experience as a Butcher, with hands-on knowledge of meat preparation and different meat cuts
- Confident with a knife and experienced in carcass breakdown
- Having previously been responsible for other staff is advantageous
- Able to provide evidence to support the work experience you claim
- A professional, reliable and accountable attitude to work
- Good communication and people skills, and able to work well in a team
- Able to keep accuracy and quality high under pressure
- A strong understanding of food safety and workplace safety requirements
- Available to work Tuesday to Saturday
- Able to meet the requirements of the relevant sponsorship pathway
