Kabayan, if bread, pastry and cake work is your craft, this Brisbane opening could be a good next step. A bakery café in the city bakes everything fresh on site each day and prepares custom celebration cakes for its customers, and it now needs an experienced full-time Baker.
The role mixes daily production with finished pastry and cake work. It is permanent, 38 hours a week, with an established team that keeps growing.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect raw materials and measure ingredients carefully for each run
- Mix doughs and batters
- Prepare cake mixes, pastry and fillings
- Mould, shape and portion breads, rolls, cakes, tarts and more
- Prepare tins and trays, load the ovens and control temperature and timing
- Finish cakes and pastries with icing, cream, chocolate, fondant and sugar paste
- Create custom celebration cakes from customer orders
- Price, package and arrange products for the café display, planning the day so it is fully stocked at opening
- Operate and clean mixers, sheeters, provers and other equipment
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Contribute ideas for new recipes and products, and supervise and train junior bakers and kitchen staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Baking or Patisserie, or a higher culinary arts or patisserie qualification
- At least 1 year as a Baker, Pastry Chef or Pastrycook in a commercial bakery, patisserie or hotel kitchen
- Strong practical skills in pastry and cake production
- Strong decorating skills and sound food safety and hygiene knowledge, plus availability for early mornings, weekends and a rotating roster
- Desirable: fondant work and designing custom cakes
- Desirable: kitchen supervision or leading a team
- Desirable: work in a bakery or café where you serve customers
