Accountant

Trade · Belmont, Perth WA, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview

Love making the numbers add up? A growing care services organisation in Western Australia is looking for an experienced Accountant who has a proven track record, a sharp eye for detail and the confidence to own complex accounts receivable and financial reporting work.

Your main focus will be NDIS and brokerage receivables, plus accounting support for the Support at Home function. From funding claims and reconciliations to month-end reporting and compliance, you will help keep financial information accurate, transparent and well controlled.

This suits candidates who can show genuine accounting ability and work well with both finance and operational teams. Accounting experience gained back home in the Philippines or elsewhere overseas is part of what you can bring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the NDIS and brokerage receivables side from start to finish: quotes, service agreements, invoicing, claims and getting payments collected
  • Go through funding claims and fix any that come back rejected, underpaid or delayed
  • Allocate incoming receipts, then reconcile remittances, funding payments and client accounts
  • Keep track of overdue accounts and chase debts in an appropriate way
  • Reconcile the receivables control accounts, dig into any differences and put through the journals and adjustments those reconciliations call for
  • Give accounting support to the Support at Home receivables function
  • Help with tricky account enquiries and with reconciling client budgets
  • Check with the operational teams that services, agreements, invoices and funding arrangements are all correct
  • Do the intercompany, general ledger, bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Put through depreciation, accruals, prepayments and other accounting entries
  • Support the financial close each month and at year end
  • Help put together balance sheets, profit and loss statements and cash-flow reports, and add to management reporting and financial analysis
  • Help with forecasts, budgets, variance analysis and watching expenditure
  • Support GST, BAS, payroll tax and other statutory compliance needs
  • Keep the accounting records accurate and the internal controls sound
  • Help make accounting systems, reporting and receivables processes better

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or something related
  • Professional accounting experience you can demonstrate
  • A strong background in receivables work: invoicing, collections, reconciliations and allocating payments
  • Experience with month-end accounting, journals and financial reporting
  • A working grasp of Australian accounting principles
  • Advanced skills in Excel, plus experience with financial management and accounting software
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an excellent eye for detail and good organisation
  • Strong communication skills, spoken and written
  • Able to work on your own while pulling your weight in the wider team
  • Able to handle confidential financial information professionally
  • Having worked with NDIS, aged care, Support at Home or government-funded receivables is highly regarded
  • Experience with funding schedules, service agreements and quotes is advantageous
  • Knowing the SCHADS Award and Nurses Award is advantageous
  • Experience in payroll processes and with Employment Hero is advantageous
  • A CPA or CA qualification, or working toward one, is advantageous
  • Able to meet Australian employment and applicable sponsorship requirements
  • Employer sponsorship is available for the right candidate
